I spent the weekends covered in a fine film of soot glitter and semen, but I wouldn't have it any other way, and that is what you should expect at pride.
I mean, I didn't even wear any glitter the whole weekend, but I'm sure I'll be finding the stuff all over me for weeks.
As we were getting the float fixed up before the parade and all of the participants were relaxing and preparing for the next few hours, Lucas, the other intern at GoPrde from Taiwan tuned to me and said, "I get the feeling that everyone can just be themselves here."
I'll be honest, that almost brought me to tears. I don't think we realize how different it really is here compared to places like Taiwan, much less the middle east.
I saw people being themselves, being exactly what it was that they felt like being, whether it was looking as ridiculous as they possibly could, or just dressing the way they want, wearing make-up, or dancing like no-ne was watching.
Pride is more than just a good time. It is a release, a statement, and a break from the pressures of the world around us.
It's my new favorite holiday.... Sorry Christmas....

Pridefest 2012
Pridefest 2012 was a fabulously crazy time. I spent a lot of my time there at the Chicago Pride Booth where we offered people free photos! I met a ton of awesome people... and maybe a particularly special person. :)
My favorite part of the festival was Ms. Foozie's Pet Parade!
Check out the video I made for the event!

Go Pride.. 10 Years and Counting!
I've been having an amazing time over the past few days, and I want to share a part of the fun with you guys!
I put together a video of our 10 year anniversary party this week to celebrate and show you all a little bit about my awesome internship!
Many of you already know about the tumblr When in Boystown, and rightfully so. It is hilarious, even to a newbie in town like me. It also gives me a lot of insight into the world here.
I'm the Events and Social Media intern for GoPride.com and a new Chicagoan. Over the next couple of months, I'll share my experiences in Boystown and across Chicago with you. Maybe you'll even get a sneak peek into the behind the scenes action at Gopride.com.
I'm a thinker, an entertainer, a traveler, and even an Eagle Scout. (Yep.. We'll talk about how that works later.)
As a recent graduate of Eastern Illinois University, I've studied philosophy, french, ethics, sexual identity and psychoanalysis, among other things. I just moved to Boystown a few weeks ago, and I'm starting a life here. With so much to explore, I shouldn't have a hard time sharing what I discover.
I'm already starting to understand that things are rarely boring here….
For now, take a look at my Wordpress blog that I kept while studying abroad at Sorbonne University in Paris, France! Here is a post about a gay hotel I ended up in for a night. Let's just say it was an experience... See my Blog "Sacredrew"
