Nunn on the Run:
G-Eazy Drops The Beautiful & Damned

G-Eazy Drops The Beautiful & Damned
The artist Gerald Earl Gillum or better known as G-Eazy continues to carve out a career in the music business doing things his own way. His album When It's Dark Out featured the song "Me, Myself & I" that reached the 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100.

Hailing from the East Bay Area has created a sound that is unique and distinctly his own. He has collaborated with artists such as Britney Spears, and Dillon Francis in the past with big success.

His latest album The Beautiful & Damned drops Dec. 15. This new project has him teaming with his current girlfriend Halsey, Charlie Puth, and Zoe Nash, among many others. He recently slipped into Chicago for an old school listening party with fans at Feature Studio and stopped to chat a bit.

JN: (Jerry Nunn) What do you want to tell people about the album that haven't heard it yet?

GE: (G-Eazy) I am really excited to share it with the world. I put my all into it. I worked on it for over a year. I made over a hundred songs. We trimmed it down to 20.

I realized in the process of making it that there is a duality in the music. Exploring that duality and the lifestyle that comes with that music and living in Hollywood with celebrity along with my being a gemini, there's a light and dark. There is a highest of highs and lowest of lows.

JN: Does the title of the album come from that?

GE: Yes, it is borrowed from the book by Fitzgerald. It was about the roaring '20s, a time of over indulgence.

JN: Like The Great Gatsby?

GE: Yes, the same writer. I am in my twenties living a similar over-the-top lifestyle. It is a comment on celebrity and living that lifestyle.

JN: How did you find Zoe Nash?

GE: She lived down the street from me!

JN: What? That's unbelievable.

GE: Yeah, she's incredible. She has a voice like no other. She blew me away.

JN: At Lollapalooza you were talking about working with Britney. How was that?

GE: It was insane. She is one of the biggest artists of our generation. To have someone like that reach out and want to work with you is an honor.

JN: You seemed so grateful to be performing at Lollapalooza.

GE: I loved Lollapalooza. We were just talking about it. It may be my favorite festival.

JN: I talked to Bebe Rexha about you one time. What word would you use to describe her?

GE: Superstar. She's an incredible writer and singer.
