Indianapolis — The conservative Christian group "Advance America" is trying to get the State of Indiana to dump a license plate that benefits a gay youth organization.

The Post-Tribune reports that plates supporting "Indiana Youth Group" -- which works with LGBT youth and teens -- have been available since late December. The plates feature a rainbow of hands reaching for the sky.

"Advance America" tried to stop the plate before it was approved. Now, in the waning days of the current Indiana legislative session, they're trying to get it dumped.

"Other groups have a special license plate that has been approved by the legislature or the Bureau of Motor Vehicles," says the group's website. "These include worthy causes such as: Riley Children's Hospital, military veterans, and Indiana colleges and universities.  That's ok!

"But it is not ok for the State of Indiana to put its seal of approval on a pro-homosexual group that targets children as young as 12 years of age!"

"Advance America" organizers seem particularly worried about the 12-year-olds, whom are mentioned four times in a brief post.

The group also warns that no minor should view Indiana Youth Group's website, and that viewer discretion is advised overall.

Indiana Youth Group's website provides pen pals, information on local places to meet other LGBT teens and supportive adults, and job training assistance.

Did you ever notice how these neo-con groups have "opposite names" 'Advance America' should be Regress America" "Protect Marriage" should be 'Deny Marriage to Icky Homos'. Nat'l Org for Marriage' should be Nat'l Org Against Gay Marriage'. Curious that.
i was just thinking the same thing. these groups put the word america in front of their name. isnt america suppose to be land of the free? i guess its patriotic to find differences in people. what would 'god' think? im so tired of people who bash others
